Summer Institute for Graphic Design Studies (SIGDS)

June 24–August 2, 2019

The globalization of visual communications has resulted in monumental changes in the field of graphic design. The Summer Institute for Graphic Design Studies (SIGDS) challenges students and professionals to improve the way we communicate visually. RISD’s renowned Graphic Design faculty and visiting professionals help you achieve excellence in design through hands-on and computer-based techniques. Courses are intended for students at all levels of experience, from the creative novice to the advanced professional.

Courses meet Monday through Friday for two weeks. With staggered start dates, you can enroll in one, two or three courses. You’ll also have the opportunity to work in some classroom studio spaces (as available) and course-related print labs during non-class hours. All SIGDS courses require you to provide your own laptop loaded with course-specific software. If you are unable to provide your own laptop, please contact the RISD Continuing Education office prior to registering.

If you have any questions or concerns about prerequisites and course content, please contact Franz Werner at fwerner@risd.edu or 401 277-4843, or Ernesto Aparicio at eaparici@risd.edu.

Note: Summer Institute for Graphic Design Studies schedule aligns with Summer Design Intensives for cross-enrollment opportunities.
